The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced on Monday in Abuja that the Federal Government has requested the presence of Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for questioning.

The minister emphasized that Sheikh Gumi is being called in to address his remarks regarding the actions of bandits in the country, underscoring that no one is exempt from the law.

Sheikh Gumi, known for his negotiations with bandits during the previous administration of President Muhammad Buhari, has faced mounting criticism following his recent statements concerning the activities of bandits in the Northern region.
Some Civil Society Organisations and other concerned Nigerians have for some time being calling for his arrest with the last call coming over the weekend and giving the FG one week to effect his arrest
