The Thoughtful Silence of a Doer: Monday Okpebholo in Perspective

It’s no longer news that the most conspicuous trait of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, is his conservative nature. The Senator, who has made a name for himself as ‘Mr. Less Talk More Action,’ has come under serious attack from the opposition, who are trying to spin this good leadership trait.

It’s not surprising to me, as the PDP in the state, ably led by the “Talker in Chief,” is a smooth talker who has used many words in the past to hoodwink the good people of Edo State. What they failed to realize is that you cannot deceive the people all the time.

“When there are many words, transgression and offense are unavoidable, but he who controls his lips and keeps thoughtful silence is wise.” ~ Proverbs

While the PDP-led government has been bamboozling the people with empty rhetoric, they are yet to come to terms with the fact that the people are now wiser. They are still on that lofty horse with the illusion that the people will fall for their smooth talk as usual.

The street is now asking questions…

Where are the jobs?
Where is the seaport and the cargo airport?

Where is the international university of innovation?

Where is the state-of-the-art mega-city he promised?

Where are the investors he boasted of wooing to the state with his acclaimed experience as an investment banker?

The street is filled with questions, and the people are waiting patiently to pass the verdict on the 21st of September.

Edo people must keep faith with the man who doesn’t waste their time painting an illusion for them but puts his hands on deck to find solutions.

The state is in dire need of people-centered leadership, and that is what Sen. Monday Okpebholo is bringing to the table.
