Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of the Chairman and members of the Governing Council of Gombe State University (GSU).
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the Governor’s approval, stated that the appointments are with effect from 18th January 2025.
He listed the appointees as follows:
Prof. Baba Yusuf Abubakar (University of Abuja) – Chairman; Engr. Idriss Abdullahi Kwami (Fini Aluminium Industry Ltd); Prof. Caleb Kudi (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, ABU Zaria) – Member; Barr. Maljengo M. Kaltungo (Asokoro, FCT) – Member and Prof. Mairo Abdullahi (Dept. of Business Administration, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto) as Members.
Other members are the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice; Four Representatives of the Senate; One Representative of the Congregation; One Representative of the Convocation; The Vice-Chancellor; Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Admin and Academic) while The Registrar serves as Secretary.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Baba Yusuf Abubakar, is a renowned Academic with extensive experience in University administration.
Other members were carefully selected for their expertise in academia, law, engineering, and public service to ensure a robust and diverse leadership structure.
The Governor expressed confidence in the new Council’s capacity to uphold Gombe State University’s reputation as a hub of academic excellence in Nigeria as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House Gombe.
