After over a century, Adamawa community welcomes new paramount ruler

It was a remarkable show of joy and unity when sons and daughters of the Yungur kingdom trooped out in style to welcome and honor, His Highness Gubo Yungur, the paramount ruler of Yungur Chiefdom in Dumne the ancestral home of the Dumne people.

The event was graced by a mammoth crowd had an impressive delegation of prominent figures from Adamawa, reflecting the significance of the occasion.

Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, Chief of Staff to the governor of Adamawa State; Alhaji Dr. Abdullahi Prambe, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Adamawa State; Hon. Idris Yahaya, Chairman of Song Local Government; and Hon. Kefas Emmanuel, the Member Representing Song in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

The large crowd turnout underscores the importance of Yungur Chiefdom’s haven being stripped of this status over a century ago.

In his address, the CoS to Governor Ahamadu Umar Finitri, Dr Edgar Amos Sunday thanked the governor for the courage he showed in the creation of Yungur chiefdom over a century ago.

“I must tell you these delegations present here today highlighted their commitment to fostering collaboration and development in the region”

“The creation of new chiefdom and Emirates will further strengthen the peace structure of the state government,” Dr Edgar said.

In his goodwill message, the Commissioner Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, hailed the creation and appointment of the Chief and urged respect for the king.

The royal palace in Dumne was filled with an atmosphere of celebration and pride as the people of Yungur Chiefdom expressed their appreciation for the entrance of His Royal Majesty, the Gubo Yungur, an event none of this generation has witnessed.

This historic gathering reinforces the deep connections between traditional leadership and state governance in Adamawa, paving the way for continued collaboration and prosperity.

Responding, the Gubo Yungur, HRM, Johnson Diyo Matalo, who expressed delight for the warm reception accorded to him, appreciated God for using the Governor to rebirth Yungur land traditionally.

The Royal Father pledged to do his best to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Governor, Yungur Stakeholders, and all his subjects whom he described as instrumental to the new course.

He solicited prayers and support from his subjects to enable him to carry out his new assignment with all diligence and promised to lead with fairness, equity, and justice to all irrespective of political, economic, and religious background.

Earlier, in a welcome address, the National Chairman of, the Yungur Development Association (YADA), Mr. Philemon Atombita, sought for prayers and support for the new monarch for him to succeed and thanked Governor Fintiri for lifting Yungur nation.
