The iconic Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti Multi-System Hospital (AMSH) has unveiled an ultra-modern fertility center to enhance quality reproductive healthcare for the people.

Speaking at the unveiling of the facility, also known as the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) center, on Wednesday at the hospital, the founder of ABUAD, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, explained that the initiative was part of the institution’s commitment to providing solutions to the health challenges of people in the country and beyond.

The elder statesman, who lamented the humiliation and harassment faced by couples unable to conceive after years of intimacy, said the center aims to offer solace and hope to men and women desirous of having children.

He revealed that the center is equipped with state-of-the-art machines and technological tools designed to give patients hope and enable them to have children at an affordable cost, compared to the prices for similar services abroad.

According to him, the university and its health facility have, over the past few years, been a beacon of excellence in the nation’s education and health sectors. He noted that the institutions would continue to invest in initiatives that serve society’s best interests.

Babalola dismissed the erroneous belief that the services rendered at the hospital and university are excessively expensive. He emphasized that the institutions were established not for profit but to provide quality education and healthcare for the people.

The nonagenarian stated, “Today, we are making significant progress by commissioning the latest in modern equipment to combat childlessness.

“In the past, people used to stone a man (Okobo) or a woman (Agan) who could not have children. It seems to me that, generally, men and women want to have children.

“With an affordable amount, Nigerians now have the opportunity to use the IVF facility at ABUAD without the need to travel abroad for the same service.”

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe, described the launch of the fertility center as a landmark achievement in providing world-class healthcare for the people. He stated, “Infertility is a significant challenge faced by millions of couples worldwide.”

He revealed that the center is a direct response to the nation’s need for accessible reproductive healthcare services, adding, “The hospital is here to provide both medical and emotional solutions for couples longing to experience the joy of parenthood.”

Ogundipe further remarked, “To all couples struggling with infertility, we extend a heartfelt invitation to explore the services available at the AMSH fertility center.

“We understand that the journey to parenthood can be challenging, but you do not have to face it alone. At AMSH, we are dedicated to turning your hopes into reality and helping you achieve the joy of parenthood.”
