ANAMBRA: NSCDC ADVOCATES ENHANCED COLLABORATION WITH THE JUDICIARY IN THE PROTECTION OF CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSETS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has secured a crucial pledge of support from the judiciary in its fight against vandalism of critical national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure.

The Chief Judge of Anambra State, Hon. Justice Onochie M. Anyachebelu, gave the assurance when he played host to Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC Anambra State Commandant in his office at the High Court Complex in Awka on Tuesday January 21, 2025.

The Chief Judge expressed his gratitude for the Command’s crucial role and contributions to Anambra State’s security architecture through effective collaboration with other sister security agencies, ultimately making the state relatively safe and peaceful for lawful citizens and residents.

He emphasized that NSCDC personnel must demonstrate dedication and professionalism in protecting the country’s critical assets, while also assuring the Corps of the judiciary’s ongoing support in combating crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

Earlier, Commandant Maku Olatunde said his visit to the Chief Judge was to seek cooperation and support from the Judiciary in achieving the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ (NSCDC) core mandates, ultimately aiming to create a peaceful state free from crimes and criminalities.

Highlighting some of the activities of the Corps, Commandant Maku said, protection of lives and property especially government owned critical , national, state and local government assets and infrastructure, such as petroleum pipelines, power installations and telecommunication facilities, crisis/ disaster management resolution, protection of schools through safe school project, regulation of private security companies activities, prevention of Farmers/ Herders clashes among others are major NSCDC mandates , which remains pertinent in security parlance.

The Anambra NSCDC State Commandant reaffirmed the command’s firm resolve to uphold the rule of law and discharge its responsibilities with utmost professionalism, devoid of sentiment or bias.
