The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Olusola Kehinde, on Wednesday stated that the institution does not run substandard programmes, emphasizing that all 38 academic programmes offered are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed this during a press conference held at the Red Chamber of the university, as part of activities marking the institution’s 32nd Convocation Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, January 25.

Professor Kehinde highlighted that the university has continued to grow significantly, introducing eight new programmes and increasing the number of colleges from three to ten.

He identified the new programmes as Library and Information Science; Cybersecurity and Data Science; Software Engineering; Information Systems; Information Technology; and Information and Communication Technology.

Kehinde stated:
“All programmes offered by this university are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The university now runs 38 academic programmes across 54 departments.

“We are not running substandard programmes at FUNAAB. None of our programmes are interim or unaccredited. About 95 percent of our programmes are science-based.”

He added that the university will graduate 120 first-class students and 136 PhD candidates during the convocation.

Kehinde further explained that 3,567 undergraduates will be graduating, with 1,626 earning second-class upper division degrees and 1,624 receiving second-class lower division degrees. Additionally, 164 students will graduate with third-class degrees.

He also noted that the institution will confer 274 master’s degrees and 30 postgraduate diplomas.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that FUNAAB remains committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
