Rt. Hon. Princess Mojisola Lasbat Meranda has officially assumed office as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, after the impeachment of former speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Meranda resumed officially on Monday with readiness to lead and drive legislative progress in the state.

Tribune Online reports on January 13, 2025, that Meranda, who served as deputy to Obasa, was immediately sworn in after lawmakers of the Lagos State Assembly impeached Obasa as their Speaker over a series of allegations.
With her assumption of office, Meranda has become the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
