Nigeria has been battling many challenges since she got her independence in 1960. These challenges include: corruption, insecurity, cultism, high rate of inflation, and inadequate funding. I will talk on some of these challenges and how we can solve them.
The hike in fuel prices is also affecting citizens, especially students around the country. Looking at academic aspect, students depend on one gadget or the other that enables them to do things like assignment and reading too. Nigeria isn’t a country with constant power supply, so students need to charge electronic devices. But with the high cost of fuel, charging centres have increased, charging fees and making it harder for some students to charge their gadgets. Inflation affecting food price is getting out of control. Many families today struggle to eat two square meal daily which was not so before.
Another problem Nigeria is battling with is insecurity such as banditry, kidnapping, vandalism of public property and many more.
Corruption is another major problem being faced in the country. Nigeria has been battling corruption like every other country out there. However, most of the corruption around the country is coming from higher authorities and people who are meant to stop corruption.
Having talked about all these challenges which are the major problems in Nigeria, I will give my own opinion on the solution to these problems.
First, the fight against corrupt practices can be successful by electing leaders who are truly ready to embrace honest habits, create equal opportunities to all citizens and reward honesty and integrity. We should also sanction wrong deed by exposing corruption and ensuring public sector employees act in the public interest.
Now to insecurity. The major cause of this, in my opinion, is unemployment mostly amongst the youth. They lack jobs and good opportunities. If the government can provide opportunities for the jobless youths, insecurity will reduce drastically and hopefully, we can have peace again.
In conclusion, Nigeria is facing a lot of challenges, some of which are listed above and all these challenges are affecting the wellbeing and lives of the inhabitants of the country. The earlier the government looks into this and provides solutions or takes steps to resolve these problems, the better Nigeria will become.
