MTN Foundation distributes learning support materials to Bauchi students

The MTN Foundation on Thursday distributed learning support materials to students of Jubril Aminu Primary & Secondary Model School for Gifted Children, Bauchi. 

Speaking at the ceremony, the SM, Regional Operations North-West, Ohwofasa Obazenu stated, “The MTN Foundation believes that education is the cornerstone of growth and every student deserves access to resources necessary to unlock their full potential.

“We are happy to present the MTN Learning Support materials initiative(LSMI), a programme designed to empower students with essential academic tools.” 

According to him, the commitment of the foundation is to foster an enabling environment for learning and support access to quality education for students. “To our students, these materials are more than just a supply to support your studies, they are stepping stones towards your aspirations.”

“Some of you here want to be Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, your true impact depends on how you choose to use them.Strive for excellence and let your qualification, discipline and focus shape your learning journey,” he added.

Continuing, he further stated, “To the school administration, your role in nurturing these leaders of tomorrow is invaluable. In MTN, we believe that the reward of teachers is not only in heaven but also here on earth. We deeply appreciate your commitment and hard work.

“I now officially hand over these learning materials to the school and its students and hope that it will enhance all your learning experience.” 

“I would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Her Excellency, ably represented here by the Commissioner for Education, for her collaboration, the principal, the management team, all stakeholders for your unwavering support and dedication to education excellence.

“Education is the bedrock of growth in every economy, Bauchi state will still remain a focus in our future initiative as we all collaborate to drive growth and development for a more positive impact. Good day and thank you once more again, I wish you all success in your academic and professional pursuits.”

In her address at the occasion, Bauchi First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, commended the MTN Foundation for the gesture which she said will go a long way to complement what the State Government is doing in the education sector. 

Represented by the  Commissioner for Education, Dr Mohammed Lawan Rimin-Zayam, the First Lady stated, “This effort is a giant effort made by MTN and Al-Muhibbah Foundation to the Education of our dear children. This indeed is what we have been looking for and at this point in time, we have gotten what we are looking for.

“To MTN, we thank you for this giant effort you have made and we assure you of our continuous support on our part in the ministry. We also look forward to many of such collaborations with other donor partners because it is said that government alone cannot handle the issue of education.”

According to her, “When there are able hands out there to compliment the efforts of government, we will definitely write our names in gold.

“With these little remarks, I want to stop here and wish every one of us here a very successful day and a good deliberation ahead,” She concluded.

In his vote of thanks, the Principal of the School expressed joy and happiness for the gesture which he said will improve the quality of teaching and learning in the school. 

The Principal assured the MTN Foundation and the First Lady that the materials will be judiciously used by the students as required. 

Some of the students expressed their happiness over the development, saying that it will improve their learning skills and knowledge of the subjects.
