Redeemer’s University has matriculated 1,700 students into its 20th academic set for the 2024/2025 session, tagged the “Landmark Set,” comprising 1,500 undergraduates and 200 postgraduate students.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Akindele charged the newly admitted students to embrace excellence, describing the matriculation as a foundational moment in their academic journey.

He asked the new students to “See this matriculation ceremony as a foundation-laying ceremony. Redeemer’s University isn’t just any university; it is a unique university named after the Redeemer, Jesus Christ himself, and a stance for the pursuit of excellence. For the few weeks you have spent in, you would have known our likes and dislikes embedded in the rules and regulations.

“Note that the vision of the university is to be among the foremost academic institutions setting standards through continuous commitment to excellence, towards making a transformative impact on society. So, you are here to experience a total transformation that will impact Nigeria and the world at large. Don’t just pass through this school, let the university pass through you,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor further urged students to adhere strictly to the institution’s rules and regulations, emphasizing exam rules, class attendance, worship participation, and dress codes.

“You need to pay attention to the rules and regulations guiding student operations in the university, such as exam rules, class attendance, worship attendance, dress code, and so on. Two, concentrate on what brought you here through commitment and dedication to your studies. Three, avoid substance use, which can easily truncate your period of study here,” he warned.

In his closing remarks, he encouraged students to strive for academic excellence and make their sponsors proud.

“Make sure you make your parents and sponsors proud by coming out of this university with good grades and distinction. God has destined every one of you for success; what you make of it depends on what you, on your own part, put into it. The reward for hard work is great. Run that you may obtain greatness. I promise you that every support you need to succeed will be provided. And so, I am glad to say congratulations to you all. Welcome to Redeemer’s University. God bless you.”
