The management of Fountain University, Osogbo has addressed concerns following the recent decision by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to suspend admission into the university’s Law programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In an official statement signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Taoheed Alimi, on Friday, the university reassured students, parents, and stakeholders that its Law programme remains fully accredited by both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education.
The university clarified that the suspension applies only to new admissions for the upcoming academic session and does not affect students currently enrolled in the Law programme.
Alimi stated that “the management team understands that this news may have caused concern among our students, parents, and stakeholders. However, we would like to reassure everyone that the Law programme at Fountain University currently enjoys the full accreditation of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education.”
Fountain University also announced that its first set of Law graduates will proceed to the Nigerian Law School later this year, emphasizing that the programme continues to operate at full capacity.

“It is essential to note that the suspension of admission by JAMB only affects new intakes for the upcoming academic session. And it does not have any impact on our current students enrolled in the Law programme. Our students can continue their studies without any disruption, and we are committed to providing them with the highest quality education and support. And we’re glad to announce that our first set of Law graduates will be proceeding to the Nigerian Law School later this year.” the statement read.
Fountain University revealed that it has been selected as the first and only Nigerian institution to participate in the 2025 International Dispute Week, organized by the Saudi Arabian Commercial Arbitration Moot in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Alimi noted that the “achievement is alluding to our institution’s commitment to excellence and our students’ exceptional abilities. We believe that this opportunity will provide our students with a unique platform to showcase their skills and knowledge in commercial arbitration, and we are confident that they will make us proud.
“We want to assure our students, parents, and stakeholders that we are working closely with the relevant authorities to resolve this matter and ensure that our Law programme continues to meet the highest standards of excellence.”
