Omotayo, a public servant, has taken his wife, Ella to a Customary Court in Jikwoyi, Abuja, Federal Capital City Territory (FCT), accusing her of poor hygiene.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Omotayo, who resides within the court’s jurisdiction, filed for divorce, saying he could no longer tolerate his wife’s dirty habit.
“The main problem I have been nursing with my wife since we got married is that of her poor hygiene.
“She leaves our home looking dirty and untidy all the time.
“Whenever I come back from work, I find it difficult to rest because the whole house will be filthy and smelling.
“I have tried coping all these while, but I can’t take it any longer.
“She looks unkempt and not presentable all the time, ” he said.
According to the petitioner, he feels used by the respondent who thinks she has achieved her aim by giving birth to children.
“She has no love, respect and affection for me anymore,” he told the court.
Omotayo further said, “My wife gangs up with her family members to insult, curse and threaten me.”
However, his wife who is a businesswoman, denied the allegations brought against her.
The presiding judge, Thelma Baba, advised the couple to explore amicable settlement for the sake of their children.
He then adjourned the case.
