Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi has described his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the only party to beat and capable of salvaging Nigeria, given its pedigree in various people-oriented programmes and good governance.
Governor Idris who made this statement on Tuesday at a press interview with Journalists after meeting with 1,125 delegates from the 225 wards in the state at the State Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the State Capital.
According to Governor Idris, the recent defection of top Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to the APC was motivated by his administration’s remarkable achievements.
“People have seen things for themselves under my leadership; my administration has transformed Kebbi”.
“All parties have testified that we are doing an excellent job in our urban and rural transformation programme. The administration has maintained transparent and judicious utilization of resources for the benefit of our people.”
The Governor welcomed the new members, assuring them of equal opportunities, rights, and privileges.
“I commend our teeming supporters for their support and cooperation. I am resuming my thank-you visit to local government areas, and other members of the opposition parties are enthusiastic about defecting to the APC; we shall receive them with open arms,” he said.
The Governor’s statement comes after two former Commissioners, Alhaji Muhammadu Magawata Skier and Alhaji Atiku Bunu, defected from the PDP to the APC on Monday to pave the way for Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero’s much-expected defection again to the APC.
