The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has tasked the new Commissioner of Police for Ekiti Command, Joseph Eribo, with reinforcing policing strategies to maintain the state’s status as one of the safest and most investment-friendly in the country.
Oyebanji stated that his administration places a high priority on the safety of all Ekiti residents and their property, while also valuing the great work and dedication demonstrated by the security agencies in ensuring that Ekiti remains unsafe for criminals.
The governor made these remarks on Thursday while receiving the police top brass in his office in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, Oyebanji praised the resilience shown by the police and Ekiti residents, noting that this is why the state continues to be rated as one of the safest and most investment-friendly in Nigeria.
Describing effective policing as essential to development, the governor commended all the security agencies for their partnership and sense of duty, urging them to sustain their efforts to ensure an effective intelligence-gathering system.
“I want to particularly commend the men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force for their readiness to defend the masses through aggressive patrols, day and night.
“I request more dedication and hard work from our police officers in carrying out their duties. This will assure our people that they can sleep anywhere across the 16 local governments with their eyes closed.

“I want to reiterate that it is under the atmosphere of peace that investments can thrive. I urge you to rally the support of your men and officers to enhance their operations and make the state a no-go zone for criminals.
“Please, let us continue to work hard to sustain the tempo of effective policing that will ensure the state retains its rating as one of the safest and most peaceful in the country,” he said.
Oyebanji also advised the CP to work closely with other law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to maintain law and order.
Speaking, the Police Commissioner, Eribo, stated that the visit aimed to further strengthen the existing synergy between the state government and the police in their concerted efforts to combat crime in Ekiti.
He appealed to Ekiti citizens to assist the police by exposing wrongdoers in their communities, providing tip-offs that will aid in effective policing and the gradual elimination of criminal elements.
Eribo promised that, in terms of internal security, the Command would spare no effort in reinforcing its partnership with other security agencies to ensure Ekiti remains safe for all citizens.
