The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Wednesday, inducted and decorated the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Mobolaji Daba, as its Special Traffic Mayor.

Speaking after the decoration, which took place at the Roundhouse Alausa, Ikeja, Mrs. Daba expressed her sincere appreciation to the State Ministry of Transportation Family and the agency for the honour bestowed on her, urging LASTMA officers to be more dedicated, professional and continue to promote a positive image of the agency, as they enhanced traffic management in the state.

Daba noted that their dedication and commitment to duty had significantly helped in reducing congestion and promoting seamless traffic flow in the state, stressing that their role in maintaining order and discipline on Lagos roads was important and could not be underrated.

The permanent secretary encouraged LASTMA officials to continue to do the right on the road, saying that they should be aware that people’s opinion matters.

“LASTMA has been doing a good job and I want to commend every one of you and urge you to continue to put in more effort in the discharge of your job as there are rewards for every good effort.

“Sometimes, the commendation and recommendation may not come when you believe they should come, just know that people are watching and seeing you,” she said.

“Just know that the opinion of one, two, three people matters. If anything happens they will say no, I know that organization, they are not like this, they are not like that, so just keep doing the right thing always,” Daba added.

She, however, expressed her readiness to support the agency to ease traffic congestion in the state.

Earlier in his address, Director, Traffic Advocacy and Special Traffic Mayor of LASTMA, Mr. Jimmy Awoyemi, noted that the induction and decoration was an initiative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, and the General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki.

Awoyemi said the motive was to get the assistance, support, and cooperation of the Body of Permanent Secretaries in the state for LASTMA in the management of traffic, adding: “It is believed this will yield a positive economic improvement in the state.”
