Exceptt the impossible happens, that APC will once again dominate and form the Leadership of the House come 2027 is a given. In the same vain, that the Masses’s General, the indomitable Senator Adams Oshiomole’s return to the Senate too is already a given.The above senerio does not need a crystal ball or a political oracle to foretell.
This summation is simply informed by prevailing realities on ground. Firstly for Oshiomole, not just his antecedents as the most memorable and performing Nigerian Labour Leader in recent memory nor his super performance as a two term Governor of Edo State. Oshiomole’s barely three years in the Senate has rang the bell of people oriented legislative representation ringing all over the KUKURUKU Hills, Edo North Senatorial district of Edo State
This is because as far as politics is a game of numbers, Edo State is decidedly APC and Edo North is Incontestable APC and APC in Edo North is Senator Adams Oshiomole. With sympathy for those who wants to, out of juvenile tantrums and ideological confusion wish to knock their heads against a solid wall, the highly political and developmental people of Edo North are only waiting to reward their performing Senator and political Leader with their votes for his return to the Floor of the Nigerian Senate come 2027.
If all this be true, then why the title of this piece ? :Especially as regards tremors in the Senate?
Simple. Oshiomole’s certain return to the Senate for a deserved second term portends a justifiable and even a necessary change from the mediocrity that has marked the apex of the Senate leadership for the past three years.
Even as soon as Oshiomole got to the Senate in 2023, many not familiar with the Senate Rules had already started speculating on Senator Adams Oshiomole’s Senate Presidency. The reason for this is not far fetched; as the President of the NLC, Oshiomole’s uncompromising determination to be on the side of the masses was seriously tested and trusted. If there was one man the General at Ota, former President Obasanjo respected close to fear, it was Oshiomole and his Nigerian National Labor Congress. As Govrnor of Edo State, Oshiomole was aguabyly one of the most performing if not the best governor in Nigeriar during his time. His developmental milestones are still there for all to see.
His tenor as the National Chairman saw the party not only stabilized in it’s direction at the time alone but also for the immediate future. This stoic adherence to his political conviction was what resulted in his back door coup-like removal just by some in the top rung of APC who did not want and could not contemplate a Tinubu Presidency even when it was already staring them in the face then.
Now 2027. The only stone on Oshiomole’s Senate Presidency will be removed. As a second term Senator, Senator Adams Oshiomole will be eminently qualified to via for the Senate Presidency.
What does this portend for Nigeria, her people and the future of our democracy? …….
