Sokoto State Police Command has officially commenced the enforcement of the third-party vehicle insurance policy on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, has instructed officers involved in the enforcement to maintain professionalism and integrity.
He warned that any misconduct or abuse of power by police personnel would result in severe disciplinary action.
CP Musa also reminded vehicle owners in Sokoto State to ensure their insurance documents are up to date to avoid legal consequences.
He said to ensure effective implementation, the enforcement team consists of, “the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, the Officer in charge of the State Motorpol and Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs) across the metropolitan area”.
The Sokoto State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring road safety, while calling on Motorists to comply with the insurance policy to avoid penalties.
