Nigeria lead Uganda 1-0 in AFCON 2025 live update

Nigeria have taken a first-half lead against Uganda in their final Group C match of the AFCON 2025, with Paul Onuachu’s strike separating the sides at the Fez Stadium in Morocco.
The Super Eagles dominated large spells of the first half and created the clearer chances.
The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when Onuachu made amends for an earlier miss, stretching to poke home a low cross from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru after a swift Nigerian attacking move.
The goal put Nigeria firmly in control and extends their perfect record in the group phase.
Nigeria have continued to press for a second goal, with Dele-Bashiru again at the heart of the action moments ago, weaving into the penalty area but failing to release Samuel Chukwueze on the right under pressure from Ugandan defenders.
Uganda have struggled to contain Nigeria’s pace on the flanks and suffered a further setback as goalkeeper Denis Onyango went down twice with an apparent ankle problem.
He has, however, been cleared to continue, much to the relief of Ugandan supporters.
Earlier, Victor Osimhen fired a fierce low shot, testing Uganda goalkeeper and captain Onyango, who managed to parry it.
However, the linesman’s flag was raised for offside, and the chance was ruled out.
But Fulham defender Bassey was booked in the fourth minute after a foul on Ikpeazu, putting him at risk of suspension in the knockout stage.
