Gov Yusuf commends IGP’s wife for supporting widows, children

Kano governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has commended the wife of Inspector General of Police, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun for her charitable work, particularly in supporting widows, children, and the less privileged.

This was just as the Governor however attributed the current peaceful state of Kano to the strong and dedicated police team led by Commissioner Salman Dogo Garba.

The governor made this statement while receiving Mrs. Egbetokun, who paid him a courtesy call at his office on Monday.

Gov Yusuf commended Mrs. Egbetokun’s dedication to improving the welfare of police officers and their families, describing her initiatives as reflective of the national efforts spearheaded by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to uplift women across the country.

He, therefore, emphasised that the security of Kano State remains one of the administration’s top priorities.

Governor Yusuf commended the police team for their hard work in protecting lives and properties, stating that Kano has never been more peaceful.

He then assured that his administration would continue to provide logistical support to the police to ensure they have everything needed to discharge their duties effectively.

Governor Yusuf highlighted the state government’s continuous support for the police in discharging their duties effectively, particularly through the provision of logistics and operational vehicles.

He also promised to provide land and financial assistance to the Police Officers’ Wives Association to build a secretariat in Kano.

“We remain steadfast in supporting the police and other security agencies because the safety of lives and property is critical to the progress and well-being of our people.

“Our administration will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure a secure environment in Kano State.”

Earlier, Mrs Egbetokun who is also the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association, expressed her appreciation for the governor’s support and commended him for his welfare programs and efforts to sustain cultural values.

She highlighted that the association aims to ensure the safety of policewomen and promote the dividend of democracy to their members.

She added that the visit highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Kano State government and the police to maintain peace and security in the state.

She lauded the Kano State Government for its strides in empowering women and called for stronger collaboration to enhance the economic well-being of POWA members, ensuring a secure and prosperous future for their families.
