In what obviously is an endorsement and recognition of the EDO State Government’s ongoing Civil Service Reforms under Gov. Monday Okpevholo, the Edo State Secretary To The State Government just bagged an Award from the Presidency.
In a press release by one of his sides Anthony Okungbowa MCIPM, Ph.D, the SSG stayed,: I have just received from the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (The Presidency) an award on public service reforms and institutional leadership. I was selected from a “competitive pool of state Heads of Service in Nigeria and the FCT” and I emerged the winner.

As it turned out, I am the only State Head of Service who was honoured with an award by the Bureau tonight.

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms is the apex Public Service Reform institution responsible for the management of public reforms in Nigeria and for the Bureau to have honoured only me with this award among 36 other Heads of Service of states of the federation and the federal capital territory is a clear statement of recognition of the extensive, autochtonous reform effort in our civil service under His Excellency’s SHINE Agenda.

These reforms resulted from Mr Governor’s avowed commitment to developing the internal capacity of the civil service and enabling the service to play its assigned role as the engine responsible for powering the initiatives of Government. It is certainly no mean feat and I do not take it for granted.

I must ascribe all Glory and Honour to God Almighty for this award. I am also immensely grateful to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo for giving me the opportunity to contribute my quota to the development of our civil service and for the support which directly resulted in this accomplishment. Without a doubt, this award is a product of his commitment to the reform of the civil service.

I am grateful to the Deputy Governor, secretary to the state government, chief of staff to the Governor and Hon Commissioners for their support and understanding.

I thank the permanent secretaries, Heads of Agencies, functioning permanent secretaries, directors and staff of the service for their commitment to the reform efforts without which the success which this award recognises and celebrates would not have been possible.

I also thank members of my core team who work tirelessly, day and night, to ensure the success of our work. I am truly grateful for their passion, dedication and daily sacrifice to see to the success of this work.

As is often said, the result of hard work is more work. While we celebrate this award, we recognise that the work ahead is enormous. We must remain consistent in our belief in and efforts to transform our service for enhanced efficiency and the greater productivity of our staff. God Bless Edo State, God bless Nigeria.

Signed:
Anthony Okungbowa MCIPM, Ph.D (Constitutional Law), MBA (Artificial Intelligence),
Head of Service,
