Lagos empowerment program supports 300 residents

The Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, has empowered 300 residents of the Alimosho Federal Constituency with cash and food items.
The beneficiaries of the initiative included business owners, indigent students and other vulnerable residents.
Ajigbotafe said the initiative was a personal commitment to prioritising the development and well-being of residents of Alimosho.
Speaking at the event, held on Saturday at the Alimosho Local Government Secretariat, the commissioner described the gesture as a way of giving back to the people and forging unity among residents.
About 60 indigent students received financial support to ease their return to school, 100 business owners were empowered with cash support, while food items were distributed to 140 households to cushion the impact of current economic challenges.
“This is another way of showing love to my constituency by giving back to them. They have been good to me all the while and to our party itself, and we must encourage them.
“This is another platform for bringing everybody together to talk and appreciate them.
“The 300 beneficiaries today are coming from across the six local governments in Alimosho — the Alimosho LGA and the other five LCDAs.
“This is also another way to show unity — that Alimosho is one and there is no cause for alarm. We have all come together, and you can see all the representatives of the leaders are here to show their support and love.
“We have plans to support our people. We have it mapped out, and we will be doing this periodically. I will always make sure I come back to my constituency and show them love,” he said.
In her goodwill message, a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Adefulire, represented by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Akin Bashiru, commended the stakeholders, particularly the commissioner, for the initiative.
