Aiyedatiwa Condoles Kwara Over Woro Community Attack



The Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has condoled with the government of Kwara State over the attack that occurred in Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.

It was reported that no fewer than  176 people were killed by some bandits who carried out the attack last week. Many of the residents were reported.

In a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, on Monday, the Ondo state government described the incident as painful, disturbing and a sad reminder of the security challenges confronting parts of the country.

The statement read, “The Government of Ondo State has expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kwara State over the unfortunate attack in Woro community, which led to the loss of innocent lives and disruption of peace.

“The Government and people of Ondo State sympathise with His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, the affected families, and the entire people of Woro, noting that Ondo State stands in solidarity with Kwara State at this difficult time.

“Ondo State Government prays for the repose of the souls of the victims and asks God to grant comfort, strength and healing to the bereaved families, while wishing those injured a speedy and full recovery.”

The government said it had reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity and collective action against all forms of violence, stressing “that such acts must not be allowed to undermine national cohesion and the safety of communities.”

The state government also commended  President Bola Tinubu for deploying a battalion of military personnel to the affected areas in Kwara State.
