Ogun NNPP urges unity among party members ahead of 2027

The Ogun State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Femi Aina, has called on party members and residents of the state to remain steadfast, united and hopeful as the state and nation step into the new year.

Aina made the call in his New Year message to party faithful and the general public, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent on Thursday.

The NNPP chairman expressed strong optimism about the future of the party in the state, declaring that the party is strategically positioning itself to take over the state’s leadership in the 2027 governorship election.

Aina said that the new year 2026 presents the opposition party with “renewed opportunities for political reorganisation, grassroots mobilisation and the consolidation of the party’s structures across the 20 local government areas of the state.”

He said, “I urge all members of our great party to remain steadfast, committed and hopeful. The new year comes with fresh possibilities, and we must continue to work together with faith in our collective vision for a better Ogun State.”

The NNPP chairman stressed that the party’s focus remains on people-oriented governance, anchored on transparency, accountability and inclusive development, noting that many residents are yearning for an alternative political platform capable of delivering good governance.

“The people of Ogun State deserve leadership that prioritises their welfare, creates economic opportunities and strengthens public institutions. The NNPP is prepared to offer that alternative, and by the grace of God, we are confident of producing the next governor of Ogun State in 2027”, he added.

Aina also urged party members to intensify grassroots engagement, particularly at the ward and local government levels, describing unity and discipline as critical factors for electoral success.

“This is not the time for internal divisions. It is the time to strengthen our structures, reach out to the people and present a clear, people-driven agenda that reflects the aspirations of Ogun citizens,” he said.

The New Nigeria People’s Party, which gained national prominence during the 2023 general elections, has continued to expand its presence in Ogun State, attracting youths, professionals, and grassroots politicians disillusioned with the traditional political parties.

Political observers note that the NNPP has been quietly building its base in the state through community outreach, political education and strategic alliances, positioning itself as a rising force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As preparations for the next electoral cycle gradually begin, Aina assured members that the Ogun NNPP leadership remains committed to internal democracy, fairness and the emergence of credible candidates capable of winning the confidence of the electorate.

“Our mission is clear, to offer Ogun State a new direction rooted in competence, integrity and service to the people. With dedication and collective effort, the future is bright for our party and our state,” the NNPP chairman said.
